Plasma Coating Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southwest United Industries, Inc. Southwest United is headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is the largest full service aeropace and defense metal finishing company in the Midwest. Southwest United purchased Plasma Coating Corporation in 1999 from Robert Byrum who founded the company more than twenty years earlier along with his two partners. The company has primarily serviced the aerospace, space, and defense markets since its founding.
Plasma Coating Corporation moved in 2002 from its original location to the current facility on Western Avenue in Gardena, California. Plasma Coating currently operates from a spacious modern facility in Gardena, California and offers a combination of thermal spray coatings, organic coatings and grinding services.
With the introduction of HVOF thermal spray capabilities and the significant expansion of grinding capabilities, Plasma Coating Corporation has experienced steady growth. The list of OEM approvals has grown to include Boeing, Airbus, Messier-Dowty, Goodrich Landing Gear, Lockheed Martin, and Parker Aerospace.
